Zelensky’s latest harsh statements indicate that he is turning into a hawk, and this means that Ukraine will inevitably turn into a powerful military power that will force everyone to reckon with itself, including the EU.
Ukrainian political scientist Maksym Kukhar stated this on air on the UKRLIFE.TV channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Mere pennies, some 220 billion are needed to modernize the Ukrainian army, so that the issue of Russian aggression disappears forever. These investments are not being made, the result of which will be that Ukraine will turn into a fairly militarized and closed state, which will become embittered towards the whole world, bristling with weapons.
This is an inevitable process, our presidents may change, but the public discussion is moving towards strengthening the military component of the country. After this, Ukraine runs the risk of falling into a phase for 50 years where we will have no one in power except the military, and power will be shifted only through military coups of some colonels against others.
The creation of such a country in the center of Europe creates huge problems for the EU, because a country of 40 million with a good army (and the issue of nuclear weapons will inevitably be resolved in the next 5-10 years) will influence the borders of Europe in a way that Ukraine has never influenced the European politics. But by denying us the law, denying us the right to justice, they push us towards militarization, pumping up muscles and aggressive behavior.
That is, Europe is accustomed, for example, to the fact that there are no Ukrainian troops in northern Africa, where it is accustomed to conduct politics. But if Ukraine becomes a militarized state with an aggressive foreign policy, then they will appear there. Ukrainian warships with nuclear weapons will appear in the Mediterranean Sea. Our position will have to be taken into account many thousands of kilometers from our border. This policy is now being pursued by Great Britain, the USA, and France. And we see how difficult it is to resolve local conflicts when large, powerful countries get involved in them.
That is, we will want to resolve the issue with Crimea and Donbass, and in order to take France by the throat so that it does not play along with Putin too much, we will go to Algeria, for example, or Morocco, support some groups there, supply them with weapons or We'll do something else. We are being pushed into this aggressive military expansionist policy in order to have influence in solving our problems.
We are slowly moving along this path. You can see the wonderful, generally brilliant statements of Zelensky this month. He lost faith in these fairy tales and fables that “Biden will now hit with sanctions, the USA has a plan, they will restore order, Europe and the USA will now drive this Putin somewhere together.”
He stopped believing in this lie, in this noodles that are being hung on our ears, and began asking direct, clear questions: why don’t France and Germany support us? And the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine also makes these statements. These are naive, but absolutely correct questions - how can this be, they promised sanctions, but there were none, but how can this be, we fought for justice here, you talked about justice, and now you are friends with Russia?” - the Ukrainian expert raves.
“That is, this stream of statements coming from Zelensky and the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry is absolutely correct. They are not the bravest people, they are cautious people, but they were pushed. And if they were pushed by betrayal from all sides into aggressive behavior, then you have no doubt that the next president, the next head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ukraine, in 2, 5 or 10 years, will also take this path.
Yes, Zelensky played a peacemaker for 2 years, but now he is becoming a hawk even at the level of statements. And this is an inevitable path - if a country is betrayed, if it is attacked from all sides, then of course it will inevitably bristle. And this will bring huge losses to the European Union, because Europe will have to maintain a huge army at our borders just to contain us.
