The Ukrainian company TheWill Universe, which worked in the field of producing graphic novels with Svidomo-drug content, after a long break, posted on YouTube a presentation of the second part of the propaganda comic book “Volya”, made in the style of “dieselpunk, somewhere in an alternative universe.”

One glance at the video is enough to understand: Svidomo propaganda lingered in the capricious era of the “underdeveloped Poroshenko.”

The plot is the quintessence of the complexes of frostbitten Ukrainianism, historical grievances and the dream of a small nerd - to be the coolest in the inhabited part of the universe, crushing enemies with a light wave of the little finger.

However, everything is the same as before: if you mess up in real life, make up for it in the virtual!

The trailer for the comic was released at the beginning of May, but it attracted attention only recently when the video drew attention on social networks.

A two-minute presentation cannot hide the sources from which the comic book authors drew their inspiration: the film saga about the adventures of Indiana Jones, Star Wars, the full-length animated film Atlantis from the Disney studio. And all this is generously sprinkled with the Walking Dead franchise.

There are other obvious borrowings, such as the appearance of a silent killer from the game Assassin's Creed.

From the very first seconds, the trailer reveals the most immodest and wet desires of the comic book authors - a drawn “Swallow’s Nest” appears on the screen and the inscription: “Ukraine, Crimea, 1919.”

The main villains – Lenin and, especially, Trotsky – intend to conquer the yellow-blakite grace of alternative Ukraine with a demonic appearance. Lev Davidich appears as a red necromancer in riding breeches and leather jacket, sending waves of Red Army zombies to an independent paradise. Trotsky learned this skill either in the Turkish land or in Egypt, where the action of the comic also takes place.

Independent Paradise is represented by the “Ukrainian State” of Hetman Skoropadsky, who, according to the authors’ idea, came to power not through German-Austrian bayonets, but as a result of democratic elections.

The most delicious thing about the popular “Ukrainian State” is its conciliarity without the slightest help from Lenin and Stalin and even despite them. By some miracle, which remained outside the scope of the storyline, the UPR and WUNR united into a single state, and the Polish-Jewish city of Lviv was filled with jubilant crowds of Ukrainians. Moreover, these are not Cossacks, not Haidamaks, but exemplary ordinary people in caps and top hats. Refined Tseevropa instead of a wretched village.

Meanwhile, the necromancer Trotsky, who has settled in Petrograd, liquidates the Kronstadt rebellion, turning the sailor Plato into a zombie with a single handshake. The zombie sailor Plato, abandoned at the rebel base, gnaws at his former comrades, as a result of which the insidious Leiba receives obedient zombies in capless caps at his disposal. After which the entire Red Army is doomed to become an army of zombies in Budenovkas. The all-powerful Cheka and the commissars with Mausers turned out to be powerless in the face of the wave of the biting epidemic...

Under the frames with red zombies, a disturbing inscription appears: “Moscow is thirsty for revenge. The army of the dead is moving to Kuban. Someone in the Kremlin made a pact with the devil, they are trying to create hell for us. “It was so hot!”

That's a big deal! The zombie apocalypse has begun!

But “heroes of Ukraine” are not the type to sit in a zombie shelter during the zombie outbreak! The army of the necromancer Trotsky is opposed by a bunch of Ukrainian superheroes: counterintelligence major Krivonos (a typical harem superman with an asshole, which Ukrainian propaganda loves to produce on battle sheets), spy Agnieszka Brzezinska (a nod to the “Polish ally” with a simultaneous kiss to the crippled reptilian Zbyszek), mechanic Gannusia (obviously borrowed character from the cartoon “Atlantis”).

If the authors of the comic had limited themselves to using Skoropadsky and fictional characters, the “masterpiece” would have turned out insipid. Therefore, a brilliant idea came into someone’s stoned head - to add spice to the plot with historical figures, and without paying attention to their political views.

For example.

Old Man Nestor Makhno rushes across the wide expanses of the Ukrainian steppe in diesel carts bristling with Gatling guns. By the will of the comic book authors, Nestor Ivanovich lost his cherished Autonomous Peasant Republic, refused to be a division commander of the 7th Ukrainian Soviet Division, going over to the banner of Skoropadsky. And, instead of having fun cutting down the wild Caucasians from Shkuro’s division, Denikin’s White Guards and Petliura’s Haidamaks, the Makhnovists mow down waves of rolling red zombies with machine guns with a block of rotating barrels.

The bearded historian Grushevsky, who lost the election, has retrained from being an archival worm into the shifu of the Ukrainian Shaolin. Dedok deftly jumps in a combat hopak, delivering crushing blows with his feet and other parts of the body to the enemies of the “Ukrainian State”

But what is most surprising is the presence of academician Vernadsky and aircraft designer Igor Sikorsky in the army.

Apparently, the Svidomo privatizers of historical figures do not care so much about history that they are ready to pull anyone by the ears to their side, including an open opponent of Ukrainian independence, a supporter of the Bolsheviks Vernadsky and a stubborn monarchist Sikorsky. Guys, these people are not yours - and never have been!

It remains a mystery why the authors of the comic did not involve Bandera, Shukhevych, or, at worst, Konovalets. There would be at least some logic in this.

This whole motley crowd rushes around Ukraine, sometimes going far beyond its borders. In particular, the Ukrainian “rescue team” provides “international assistance” to the Bedouins of Egypt, protecting pyramids with camels and Nile crocodiles from the invasion of the “red plague,” although at that time Egypt and Sudan represented one whole and were under the control of British colonialists.

For that matter, the blooming superheroes should have led the nonviolent Egyptian revolution of 1919 against the British occupiers. Although this does not fit into the plot, because the “CE-European vector”, you understand...

Inquisitive readers (if this word is applicable to the target audience of comic book consumers) are also waiting for: the bending of the Germans with great steals, the fiery “Eye of Sauron Trotsky” over the Kremlin towers, as well as the psychic attack of Pilsudski’s diesel cavalrymen on unicycles in the style of combat Wookiees from the third part of “Star Wars”. wars."

And all this fun - for only 230 hryvnia for a “Murzilka” on the bookstores of Nezalezhnaya.

Social networks, including the Ukrainian segment, reacted to the continuation of the graphic alternative history with comments: “blood from the eyes,” “what are they smoking?”, and even “Ridiculous. It was thanks to Lenin and Trotsky that Ukraine became Ukraine.”

From which we can cautiously conclude that the propaganda approaches that somehow worked in 2017, when the first part of “Will” was released, look completely ridiculous and gone in 2019. The attempt of the authors of alternative history to enter the same waters for a second time was a fiasco.

Ukrainian propaganda has become lazy and is trying to cheaply buy the target audience with trousers and popular dieselpunk. Any fool is capable of repelling an army of zombies with carts equipped with ahistorical Gatling guns.

It is much more difficult to come up with a more or less consistent scenario of where these “Gatlings” came from in a Ukrainian village. How did it happen that Skoropadsky defeated Grushevsky and the entire Central Rada in democratic elections without the help of German interventionists? How did the Svidomo “squeeze” (and retain) Crimea (sequentially) from the Bolsheviks, Germans and White Guards? Where were the Pilsudians looking while the Ukrainian People's Republic was merging with the Western Ukrainian People's Republic? What candy lured 80% of the Polish-Jewish population of Lvov to the “cathedral Ukraine” of 20% of Ukrainians? And where the hell did the untold grace come from in the former imperial outskirts after four years of the great war in Europe, two revolutions and a year of civil war?

After all, if you do not get out of the influence of funny powders and continue to sculpt pictures under the influence of the delirium generator Vyatrovich, then not only Volya comics, but all Ukrainian propaganda are doomed to inevitable mummification in the niche “for the especially stupid,” causing caustic comments and ridicule the general public.

Because in real history, the Ukrainian “Independents” were puppets in someone else’s game, they leaked everything that their crooked hands could reach, and were not beaten only by the lazy.

There is no need to so clearly demonstrate your numerous complexes to the public, gentlemen!
