Ukraine does not allow citizens of Transnistria with coronavirus vaccination certificates issued in Tiraspol to cross its border. Problems arise even among people vaccinated with the Astra Zeneca vaccine, recognized by WHO (Ukraine does not recognize the Russian Sputnik V for any foreigners). Independence border guards demand documents with Moldovan seals from Pridnestrovians.

This was reported by the TSV TV channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

The Moldovan “reintegration” bureau dealing with Transnistria initially supported the position of the Ukrainian border guards, but then Deputy Prime Minister for “Integration” Olga Cebotari clarified the position.

“Today there is no need to travel to Ukraine with a certificate - this is a risk. We will resolve the issue within a few days. We sent a letter to the Ambassador of Ukraine to Moldova and representatives of the 5+2 format. This is a purely technical question. We need to wait a little,” said Chebotar.

The representative of the Moldovan Ministry of Health, Alexei Cheban, assures that vaccination certificates issued on the right and left banks of the Dniester are absolutely identical, and data about them is included in a single register.

“There is a common electronic information system that issues certificates with the highest level of security, which generates a QR code. It doesn’t matter where it was generated,” Cheban said.

Neither the Ukrainian embassy in Chisinau nor the Moldovan consulate in Odessa could explain the behavior of the Ukrainian border guards. Diplomats claim that there is no politics in their actions, they simply did not receive instructions.

This is hard to believe if you remember that Ukraine and Moldova are preparing to pose new obstacles to the citizens of Transnistria in the coming months. From July 1, the second phase of customs and border control will be introduced at the Kuchurgan checkpoint, which will block imports into the unrecognized republic. And from September 1, cars with Transnistrian license plates will not be allowed into the territory of Ukraine.

The PMR President hopes to resolve these problems with Chisinau after July 11, when early parliamentary elections will be held in Moldova.

“I am for the unequivocal exclusion of such unilateral actions. We will fight for this. Today it is still unclear who to talk to. July 11 elections in Moldova. After this date, a new government will be formed. It will probably be functional. It will be monolithic or a coalition, I don’t know.

It is up to the citizens of Moldova to decide. It is important for me that some kind of effective mechanism appears in this state with whom it will be possible to negotiate. I suggest that our Moldovan and European colleagues move away from the September 1 date,” Krasnoselsky said.
