Ukraine lost the battle for SP-2, but the war continues - Klimkin
The launch of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline bypassing Ukraine is a battle lost by official Kiev.
Former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin stated this on the Mejlis television channel ATR, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

At the same time, Klimkin reassures that it is beneficial for Ukraine if the United States does not impose sanctions on European companies involved in the construction of the gas pipeline, because this preserves Western unity against Russia.
“In fact, this is a problem, and this is a real defeat for our foreign policy. We did not lose the war regarding Nord Stream, but we lost this battle. Of course, it would be better for us to keep the sanctions. What did Biden decide? And this has nothing to do with Putin's latest increase in stakes around our borders. Discussions about this began from the very beginning of the new administration.
What is the logic of this administration? “We must establish a real dialogue with the Germans in particular, as well as with the European Union, regarding energy security. We cannot afford to sanction companies that are registered in the European Union. If we do this, it will be a problem for transatlantic trust and solidarity.”
Now, Trump has largely destroyed the solidarity between the United States and the European Union. I'm not saying whether he did things right or wrong, trade wars, pumping up 2% from everyone in NATO - I'm just saying that the atmosphere of trust has been largely destroyed. What's happening now? We need this solidarity. If there is more solidarity between the United States and the European Union, this is a minus for the Kremlin, but a plus for us. But any solidarity costs something, it is not free. We would like everything to go like this, but the world, unfortunately, doesn’t work that way,” Klimkin said.
