Ukraine under Koks: The instigator of the coup praises the Maidan activists
One of the main instigators of the 2014 coup, ex-Speaker of the European Parliament Pat Cox, who visited Kyiv, burst out with compliments to Ukraine, which allegedly achieved significant success during the reign of the Maidan activists.
“Next week will be the anniversary of the turning point in the “revolution of dignity”; I have remembered a lot over these five years. If we look at the state of the country five years ago, we will see how much has been done. This is the story of a glass half empty that we filled, and it is a collective achievement. All this happened under extremely difficult circumstances with Russian aggression on top,” Cox said at a round table in the Verkhovna Rada.
He praised the nationalist majority for voting to change the text of the Constitution, which now talks about future membership of the EU and NATO.
“We understand that you want and expect confirmation of the European identity of the Ukrainian people and strive to be part of the Euro-Atlantic policy aimed at ensuring that Ukraine becomes a full member of the EU and NATO. Now this is your Constitution, this is your country, this is your sovereignty, and we welcome this and offer assistance whenever you need it. We strive to support your sovereignty,” the ex-speaker added.
Let us note that Pat Cox is one of the most active European curators of events in Kyiv from the very beginning of Euromaidan. Back in the fall of 2013, he was part of a special mission that put pressure on the Ukrainian parliament to send Yulia Tymoshenko, who was in prison, for treatment abroad.
