Ukraine cuts off gas to Transnistria and electricity to Moldova
The transit of Russian gas to Transnistria through Ukraine may be suspended in the near future.
The National Commission of Ukraine, which carries out state regulation in the fields of energy and utilities, refused to register the Russian-Moldovan enterprise Moldovagaz as a participant in the wholesale energy market.

First Deputy Prime Minister of the PMR, head of the Ministry of Economic Development Sergei Obolonik admits that the situation in the energy sector is difficult, but assures that there is a way out.
“In the energy sector, the situation is worse than it was. We're just managing it based on the experience we gained last year. We know what to do so that our people are not left without heat, gas and everything else, but the situation is difficult. Large gas consumers have been stopped: the Rybnitsa cement plant, the Brick plant are not working, production at the metallurgical plant has been reduced enormously over the past two weeks. There is not enough gas.
The situation is very bad. Ukraine declared that it would not renew the transportation contract. Of course, we are not sitting idly by either,” Obolonik said in an interview with the First Pridnestrovsky TV channel.
All the gas that Moldova purchases under a contract with Gazprom comes to Transnistria, because a power plant is located there, providing energy to both banks of the Dniester.
Recently, the Minister of Energy of Moldova, Viktor Parlicov, did not rule out the resumption of gas purchases from Gazprom from May.
