Ukraine and Crimea closed themselves off from each other
Checkpoints on the Russian-Ukrainian border in the Crimea region are closed at least until April 3.
This is stated in the order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The restrictions apply to foreigners and stateless persons, however, those Ukrainians who are registered in Crimea and Sevastopol will be allowed to cross the border.
“Only citizens of Ukraine and members of their families, whose place of residence is registered in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea or the city of Sevastopol, as well as their vehicles, cargo and other property in accordance with the procedure established by law, will be allowed into the temporarily occupied territory...
Persons will also be allowed through in order to ensure the protection of national interests or in connection with the fulfillment of international obligations, representatives of diplomatic institutions and humanitarian missions leaving the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, as well as their vehicles, cargo and other property,” – says the text of the order.
Meanwhile, the Crimean authorities decided to completely close the border with Ukraine from 00:18 on March XNUMX. Speaker of the State Council of the Republic Vladimir Konstantinov told reporters about this.
Earlier, Crimean leader Sergei Aksyonov proposed closing the border with Ukraine due to the threat of the spread of coronavirus.
