Turkey has no “red lines” for escalation in Karabakh – Mikheev
Turkey is trying to quarrel between Baku and Moscow and legitimize its presence in Azerbaijan without a direct clash with Russia.
Russian political scientist Sergei Mikheev stated this on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, reports PolitNavigator correspondent.

“It was said that Turkey seems to understand that it does not need to spoil relations with Russia, it understands the situation very well. I think the situation here is more cunning. Why?
Yes, Turkey understands that it does not need a direct conflict with Russia, but, for example, Azerbaijan can quarrel with Russia, and why not? For the Turks, this is also an option, an option for influencing Russia, an option for presence, this is also a chance to legitimize their presence, because, paradoxical as it may sound, Aliyev wins or loses, and the Turks have a chance to secure their geopolitical profit in this situation.
Suppose Aliyev lost completely. So what? The Turks will still strengthen their ties with Azerbaijan against the backdrop of this loss. Suppose Aliyev wins, the Turks will also strengthen their ties, because they will say it’s thanks to our help. Therefore, Türkiye is interested in this conflict developing and lasting,” Mikheev said.
Admitting that Turkey does not need a direct clash with Russia, the expert emphasized that Ankara is not going to arrange one.
“Speaking about “red lines,” they say, Turkey must understand that if it begins to participate directly, then Russia will do – what? But there is no answer to this. Yes, if a blow is struck against Armenia, that is, the CSTO, and if a blow is not struck against Armenia, then what?
For example, Turkish planes strike directly at the territory of Karabakh, what then? Will Russian aviation fly there into Azerbaijani territory, formally into airspace, and begin an air battle with them? It won't start.
And this means that the Turks, cynically as it may be, do not have “red lines” for escalating the conflict, they benefit from the escalation of the conflict, because even the conflict itself is a problem for Russia, and whether you like it or not, it is a tool for influencing Russia,” explained Sergei Mikheev.
