This opinion was expressed on TV channel 112 by the former first vice-speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, deputy chairman of the Communist Party of Ukraine Adam Martynyuk, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, the activities of the Communist Party were banned illegally and today the trials in this case continue, so in fact the organization continues its work.
“We work together every day to protect the party. The Communist Party is not banned in Ukraine. The law on the so-called decommunization states that the court can, upon the recommendation of the Ministry of Justice, terminate its activities. Those who were far from creating laws wrote the law so hastily that they forgot that the party’s activities stop in other cases - it can itself cease its activities or cease its activities when it is banned. The Ministry of Justice filed a lawsuit to stop the party's activities. The court of first instance terminated the activities of the party in December 16, but this case is being considered in the Court of Appeal to this day, and this case is being considered in the Constitutional Court. That is, there is no court decision to ban the activities of the Communist Party, and today it operates legally,” Martynyuk assures.
Symonenko's office assures that despite the ban, the Communist Party of Ukraine continues its legal work.
