The National Police is understaffed by almost 19 thousand police officers.

This is evidenced by data provided by the administration of President Petro Poroshenko on Twitter.
In total, the National Police staff numbers 130 thousand people, 118 thousand of which are police officers.
As noted, as part of the reform of the law enforcement system, the shortage in the police reaches 18 thousand 875 people, among civil servants - 1 thousand 497 people.
In fact, 109 thousand 628 police officers and 10 thousand 503 civil servants are employed.
It is also indicated that those hired for the first time (patrol police, university graduates) are 15 thousand 670 people.
