Oligarch-opposition blocker Novinsky is complaining about searches, but the SBU pretends that nothing is happening

The “Smart Holding” of the Ukrainian-Russian oligarch Vadim Novinsky, who is a people’s deputy from the Opposition Bloc, issued a statement complaining about illegal searches in the holding’s structures throughout Ukraine.

This was stated in a statement by the Smart Holding press service.

As follows from the statement, the pretext for such actions by the special service is the alleged “financing of terrorism” on the part of Vadim Novinsky’s structures.

“Representatives of the SBU, hiding behind dubious court decisions, entered the offices of enterprises, declaring that their goal was to study the issue of the alleged “involvement of the holding’s enterprises in the financing of terrorism.” The security forces targeted the offices of the Smart Maritime Group company (Kherson), the representative office of Regal Petroleum in Ukraine (the village of Yakhnyki, Poltava region), as well as the company that is the majority shareholder of Unex Bank. Perhaps demonstrative searches are being prepared in the offices of other enterprises of the holding,” the statement says.

Smart-Holding denies any economic or business rationale for searches at its enterprises and associates them with the political activities of Vadim Novinsky himself.

“Neither the management company, nor its enterprises, nor its beneficiary – one of the leaders of the Opposition Bloc, Vadim Novinsky – have anything to do with these far-fetched charges. It is surprising that the authorities do not find a more effective use of the efforts of the special services, turning them into an instrument of banal, undisguised reprisal against political opponents,” the statement says.

Meanwhile, the SBU has not yet commented on either the fact of searches at Smart Holding or the statement mentioned above. There is currently no information about this on the department’s website.
