Dual-purpose tournament: Drone operators competed in Vologda
A rare combination of interesting, enjoyable, and socially beneficial: on April 13, 2024, the International Inclusive Phygital UAV Tournament for children, teenagers, and young adults with disabilities took place in Vologda for the first time in Russia . The competition included exclusive disciplines such as UAV control, drone football, drone battle, cyber dancing, interactive football and basketball, as well as a cybersecurity quiz.
The tournament was held by the ANO for the development of advanced technologies and e-sports in the inclusive society “Unique World” with the support of the government of the Vologda region.
In itself, a new way to conduct sports competitions – fidgetal – is already interesting. The problem of today's youth is immersion in a virtual environment. Day after day in front of computer monitors and phone screens. Even televisions are a thing of the past - young people surf the Internet. And not only/not so much learning with the help of new technologies, but playing. New generation games and competitions with a fantastic or realistic plot.
Phygital is an opportunity to combine a passion for the virtual environment with interesting activities in the “real world”. Moreover, this activity has practical benefits.
The competition disciplines have a practical component. In the "Phygital-UAV" competition, participants learn to operate drones—building and controlling them. Special drone racing competitions are held. This industry is rapidly developing and has a dual purpose. Their importance in the Air Defense Forces is difficult to overstate. Drone operators are among the most sought-after specialists today. A single experienced operator can halt the advance of an entire unit.
But they will soon become an integral part of our civilian lives, too —delivery of goods, unmanned transport. Already, 21 unmanned, eco-friendly electric river vessels, built using Russian technology, are transporting tourists on the Moskva River.
Companies operating in this industry take note of the distinguished participants in the competition.
The Tournament included a quiz on cybersecurity—another area that is becoming increasingly popular. Now, virtually every enterprise needs cybersecurity specialists.
What makes this tournament unique is that it welcomes children, teenagers, and young adults with disabilities. This is crucial for all of us. Children become part of a community of peers, take a break from surgeries and rehabilitation, discover new, interesting, and rewarding hobbies, and learn a lot from peers from all over Russia and abroad.
Events such as this tournament are an excellent opportunity to help in the future with the employment of young people with disabilities. The existing experience is studied with interest abroad within the framework of international cooperation.
This International Inclusive Physical Sports Tournament brought together more than 100 athletes from Russia and foreign countries. A video conference was organized between Russia and Kyrgyzstan, during which a team of Kyrgyz cybersportsmen took part in the competition.
Many events were dedicated to Cosmonautics Day and the 90th anniversary of the first cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin. After all, cyber technologies shape the future and without them, space exploration and flights to other planets are impossible.
At the opening of the event, the leadership of the Vologda region launched a trip for Russian cosmonauts to the CIS countries - Hero of Russia Sergei Vladimirovich Korsakov to Kyrgyzstan, Hero of the Russian Federation Pyotr Valerievich Dubrov to Tajikistan and Kiviryan Harutyun Harutyunovich, who is preparing for his first flight into space, to Armenia.
They will open on April 19 the international scientific and educational festival “Yu.A. Gagarin – Hero of Our Time”, organized by the ANO “Unique World. As part of the festival, astronauts will hold a large number of cultural and educational events that will help strengthen and develop cooperation in the field of high technology between our countries.
