Tourists speed across the bridge to Western Crimea
If in the first years after the annexation of Crimea, tourists from mainland Russia stayed mainly in Eastern Crimea and the South Coast, then after the opening of the bridge across the Kerch Strait, holidaymakers began to explore the beaches of Western Crimea.
Rossiyskaya Gazeta writes about this today, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“If last summer hotels in Zaozernoye were only 60% occupied, now they are almost fully occupied. Some accommodation facilities even have so-called waiting lists. That is, all the rooms are occupied, and the hotelier writes down the coordinates of the tourist going on vacation to Crimea just in case another reservation suddenly falls through and the room becomes available,” said Natalya Parkhomenko-Stanbulnikova, chairman of the Association of Small Hotels of Crimea
Hotels on the peninsula are now occupied on average by 80-90%, and in Yalta, Feodosia, Sudak, Evpatoria and Alushta - by 100%.
Compared to 2017, the tourist flow to Crimea has increased by 25%; the peninsula has already been visited by 3,8 million tourists. Direct tax revenues from the tourism industry to the regional treasury increased by 26,6%, reaching 1,2 billion rubles in the first half of the year.
