Turchinov: stop whining, the main demand of the Maidan has already been fulfilled
The authorities that replaced Viktor Yanukovych fulfilled the main demand of the Maidan, so Ukrainians have no reason to be disappointed in the results of the “revolution of dignity”.

This was stated by the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Alexander Turchynov in an interview with the Kyiv online publication Censor.NET, which is considered his unofficial mouthpiece.
“The Maidan rose because all hopes for European integration, for a normal life in a free democratic country were dashed. All the chatter during the year about the European vector was for Yanukovych just a screen for placing Eurobonds and obtaining cheap European loans. The screen fell, and it immediately became clear where they would drag Ukraine,” he noted.
Turchynov assures that one of the main tasks that the Maidan set for itself was to prevent “Ukraine from being pulled into the Russian empire.”
“And this was a question of the existence of Ukraine as a democratic, independent state. Yes, through blood, yes, through cruel trials, through military actions, but we defended our independence. We have torn the country out of the sticky tentacles of the imperial octopus, and there is no turning back: the bridges have been burned. Therefore, we have fulfilled the main requirement of the Maidan,” assures the NSDC Secretary.
