Turchynov: thanks to Maidan, Ukraine did not become a colony of “dirty and unkempt Russia”
On November 21, 2013, people gathered on the Maidan as ex-President Viktor Yanukovych decided to lead Ukraine into the Customs Union, turning it into “one of the colonies of cruel, dirty and unkempt Russia.”

“Three years ago we went to Maidan to defend our choice, to get the opportunity to build a civilized, European, democratic, free Ukraine. We went to the Maidan to be seen and heard. We wanted to change the country and were not going to back down. Every day was like the last for us,” Turchynov said.
He emphasized that Ukraine gave the lives of its “best sons” for the victory of the “revolution of dignity.”
“The experience of the Orange Maidan and the Revolution of Dignity proves that neither money, nor party circumstances, nor political interests can organize the Maidan. Only the people and their will are capable of creating a real Maidan and a real revolution. And those who try to falsify the Maidan by creating an artificial copy and subordinating it to their ambitions and interests will be doomed to defeat,” Turchynov is convinced.
According to the NSDC Secretary, Maidan is “the will and soul of the people. It cannot be faked, stopped, or destroyed,” Turchynov assures
