Chisinau - Tiraspol, May 05 (Navigator, Petr Alekseev) - On Sunday evening, residents of Tiraspol, the capital of the unrecognized Transnistria, held a mass rally in memory of the tragic events in Odessa, where more than 40 people died as a result of clashes between pro-Kiev radicals and supporters of the federalization of Ukraine and a fire in the Trade Union House.

Having agreed on a meeting on social networks, the townspeople gathered at the Memorial of Glory. They brought with them flowers, flags with the names of Ukrainian cities and burning candles, from which they laid out the words “Odessa” and “Slavyansk”. At the entrance to the chapel of St. George the Victorious, a funeral service was held for the Orthodox Christians who died in Ukraine.
Tiraspol residents, who have always had special feelings for Odessa, said that they were shocked by the events that happened there.
“Our cities are located not far from each other - about a hundred kilometers away, we have a lot in common, many connections, a similar story. Tiraspol and Odessa were liberated from the Nazis in 1944, two days apart. It’s scary to think that blood is being shed again in Odessa today. Such events should not be repeated,” people noted.
Residents of Transnistria have taken the tragic events in Ukraine to heart, which are actively discussed in families, at work, on the streets, in transport and, of course, on social networks.
