Tank engines for triple the price: a new loud scandal in Ukraine
Ukraine continues to be rocked by scandals related to procurement for the army at inflated prices.
Thus, one of the enterprises planned to sell 80 tank engines to the Ukrainian Armed Forces at triple the price.
The SBU press service reported this, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Representatives of one of the domestic enterprises tried to sell 80 units to the Ministry of Defense at a price of more than 77 million UAH. At the same time, the market value of these engines is about 24 million UAH. Law enforcement officers promptly blocked the deal and thereby prevented the embezzlement of budget money on an especially large scale,” the report says.
A criminal case has been launched under Part 5 of Art. 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (misappropriation, embezzlement of property or taking possession of it through abuse of official position).
During searches of the warehouse, tank engines were seized. In addition, night vision devices and other components for armored vehicles were found. It is noteworthy that other people's property was transferred to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
