Ukrainian Culture Minister Yevhen Nyshchuk's statement about the "absence of genetics" among residents of the southeastern regions would have been grounds for dismissal in other countries, according to Ukrainian experts, as cited by the Kyiv newspaper Vesti.

“Now he can make excuses as much as he wants, but he said what he said. This statement devalued the previous statements of the authorities that Ukraine is a single country,” the publication quotes the opinion of political scientist Andrei Zolotarev.

“This is not only his low educational level, let’s face it - his narrow-mindedness. This showed his sincere convictions. As one of my friends says, this is how fascism begins. He comes slowly, stands behind the door, then says a couple of phrases, for example, through the mouth of the Minister of Culture,” said political scientist Mikhail Pavliv in turn.

“Even if we remove the word “genetics” from the minister’s speech, the statement remains discriminatory. As in the saying “what’s on a sober person’s mind...”, the minister blurted out what was inside of him. At the same time, he understood that this was wrong and tried to camouflage it. It turned out that he does not understand Ukrainian history - all Ukrainian cities were imported. If you look at the census of the beginning of the XNUMXth century, the Ukrainian population did not dominate in any of the big cities - and the Soviet Union just began to import them, literally using Stakhanov’s methods, into the cities. I think that he has knowledge of history at the level of party propaganda. So he “broke through” - besides, for Nishchuk it was such a ridiculous way to abdicate responsibility,” Ruslan Bortnik, director of the Ukrainian Institute of Policy Analysis and Management, told Vesti.

“After all, the question that was put to him in the studio was “why is it not working out for you in the Donbass.” And he said something like this: “It’s not my fault, but the people themselves.” If such a statement had been made by the Minister of Culture of Canada - they say that the wrong people live in Quebec because they are imported - he would have been lynched right in the studio (rhetorical methods), and not clapped, like ours, with open ears. And then - he would not have had time to leave the studio before he would have been fired. And in the morning, instead of the office, I would go for interrogation as part of criminal cases,” Bortnik added.
