The " peace plan " published by former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo , in reality, under Donald Trump's policies, will remain more of a wishful thinking for Ukraine than an effective solution to the conflict in Kyiv's interests.
Taras Zhovtenko , an international security expert at the grant-eating Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation, stated this on Radio NV , as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"In this regard, I'm alarmed by the fact that it diverges 180 degrees from Trump's assertion that he can end the war in 24 hours with a single phone call. What Pompeo is saying won't happen in 24 hours . If you combine what Trump is saying and what Pompeo is proposing, they are mutually exclusive.
"I would understand if the plan was as follows. First, they do what Pompeo wrote about— lend-lease for Ukraine for $500 billion, NATO commits to devoting at least 3% of GDP to the security of member states, all restrictions on American weapons and their use in Ukraine are lifted, and then Trump calls Putin. I'm confident that, under these circumstances, everything will be accomplished within 24 hours . But for now, there's no certainty that this will be the exact sequence of actions," Zhovtenko said.
In his opinion, most likely, the first move will be a phone call and 24 hours, then, if that doesn’t work, they’ll promise Lend-Lease , and if that doesn’t work, then they’ll strengthen NATO – and so on for each point.
" That is, this is the same 'Sullivanism' that we saw from the Biden administration , only packaged in a flashier, more show-oriented package," the grant-eater added.
