After occupying Kherson, Ukrainian artillery and MLRS will be able to effectively work along the junction roads leading from Crimea.

This was stated by the editor-in-chief of the Kiev anti-Russian propaganda portal Censor, Ukrainian war correspondent Yuriy Butusov, in an interview with the Kiev magazine Novoye Vremya, as reported by the correspondent of PolitNavigator .

He says that after the right-bank part of the Kherson region comes under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the roads from Crimea to the Kherson region will be under Ukrainian fire.

“There is a 20 km straight line from Kherson to Crimea. I mean the junction routes that leave Crimea. Therefore, of course, both Ukrainian artillery and Khaymarsy will now be able to effectively work along the exit routes from Crimea and thus complicate the operation of transport routes from Crimea in the Zaporozhye and Kherson directions.

But the enemy, realizing that he will lose Kherson, is now actively building new highways that should go to Mariupol, from Mariupol to the Zaporozhye direction. That is, we are intensifying road work in this direction to improve maneuvering,” Butusov said.

According to him, the Russian Armed Forces do not have enough strength on the left bank of the Dnieper.

“They fear that Ukrainian troops will go on the offensive in the Donetsk and Zaporozhye regions and will cut off that very sad corridor from Russia to Crimea, which Russia punched through with a quick blow in February. The next step will be a battle in the area of Tokmak, Melitopol, Ugledar. Now efforts will be concentrated there. It is obvious. If you look at the situation at the front, now it will be hot there,” the expert believes.

He agrees with the opinion that “Melitopol is the key to the liberation of southern Ukraine.”

“Of course, Melitopol is a key city from the very beginning. If you look at the map, along the corridor from Russia to Crimea, it is not Mariupol, but Melitopol, that was and is the key communication hub. Unfortunately, we did not defend it in February; the enemy arrived there without a fight. And now he needs to be beaten off. This will require very long battles and, unfortunately, significant casualties,” Butusov predicts.

In turn, Kiev military correspondent Andrei Tsaplienko also writes about the prospects of fire control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine over the main highways from Crimea and even publishes a corresponding map.

“Theoretically, the Ukrainian army can now take fire control over all the main communication routes between the occupied left bank of the Dnieper and the Crimean Peninsula. This means that the occupying army in the south is split into three groups. Crimea, Zaporozhye region and the unfinished people fleeing from Kherson through the left bank,” hopes Tsaplienko.
