Strelkov: Kyiv chose Ukrainian Nazism instead of the idea of the center of a new Rus'
In 2014, at Euromaidan, not one of the leaders of the protests against the corrupt regime of Viktor Yanukovych dared to question the bet on anti-Russian nationalism and put forward an alternative idea - Kyiv as the new center of all Russian lands.
The first Minister of Defense of the DPR, Igor Strelkov, announced this on the air of the internet channel "Roy TV", reports a correspondent of "PolitNavigator".

“Ukraine is a border area between Russia and Poland. And these deep, centuries-old contradictions have not gone away. Accordingly, Kyiv may be a regional center of any power; it has never had independent significance and will not have any in the near future.
Kyiv had a chance, in my opinion, in the same year 14 to declare itself a gathering point for all Russian lands. But this chance, in fact, was so unnoticed, that is, it was ignored even by those people who sincerely opposed the oligarchic regime of Yanukovych on the Maidan.
Not a single Maidan figure even put forward anything similar. At best, there were words about European orientation, at worst - “Muscovite to Gilyak”, “Muscovite to knives” and “we will create a Ukrainian Nazi empire here, and Kuban and Belgorod are also ours.” These are the two options that were on the Maidan; not a single figure even hinted at recreating Rus' on the basis of Ukraine, Kyiv.
In principle, this could not happen; this is a rather theoretical, illusory chance. Practically, it was not there - those oligarchs who stood behind the Maidan, who sponsored it, did not allow Yanukovych to destroy this Maidan, they do not need any united Russia, Rus', they do not need anything except money and power,” Strelkov said.
