Steshin: Neither side of the conflict will go on the offensive until mid-January
After the rainy season in Donbass, until the soil completely freezes, neither Russian troops nor the Ukrainian Armed Forces will launch a large-scale offensive.
Russian military correspondent Dmitry Steshin stated this on radio “KP,” the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

The presenter asked the military commander's opinion which side would go on the offensive first, and why everyone was waiting for the ground to freeze.
"I'm not clear on this point – tanks can drive quite well through mud," the radio host clarified.
“In addition to tanks, there are a lot of wheeled vehicles,” Steshin answered. – You can’t deliver rotation in tanks. It’s possible, of course, a tank is a heavy vehicle and has limited service life.”
“I was just in October-November on the front line after the rainy season. This is terrible, really, only tracked vehicles drive, or UAZ “Loaves” and UAZ “Patriots”, and that’s all. This is the main reason - it was the rainy season. This year there was a serious rainy season, which does not happen every year in the Donbass, and the black soil was so saturated with water that this cake of black soil was just swaying like a peat bog. I have not seen this, I have only seen this in the Southern Ladoga region in the North.
All this will freeze only by mid-January, I, as an old tracker, will say that the ground freezes by 30 - 50 centimeters only during this period, and not in the South, but beyond Moscow, to the north. That is, not earlier than mid-January,” explained the military correspondent.
