The United States has submitted a request to Turkey to send a warship into the Black Sea
The United States plans to send a warship to the Black Sea in response to "rising tensions between Ukraine and Russia," according to CNN, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to the publication, the United States has already requested permission from Turkey to allow its ship to pass through the Bosporus and Dardanelles straits. According to international treaties, countries that do not have access to the Black Sea must do this no less than 15 days before the date of the planned passage.
It is reported that the United States previously sent the flagship of the US Navy's Sixth Fleet, Mount Whitney, during the Russia-Georgia war in 2008.
