The White House rejected a petition to pardon former US National Security Agency employee Edward Snowden, which was signed by almost 168 visitors to the website of the American presidential administration.

This was reported by Barack Obama's national security adviser Lisa Monaco, Radio Liberty reports.
“He should come home to the United States and face trial by jury, not hide in a country with an authoritarian regime,” Lisa Monaco said.
In addition, she said that Snowden is “evading the consequences of his actions.” The White House says Snowden's actions had devastating consequences for US security.
Edward Snowden's lawyer in Moscow, where he is believed to be, said the White House is refusing to pardon Snowden for political, not legal, reasons.
