The United States declared Ukraine “the pillar of the East Slavic world”
The United States is trying, with the help of Ukraine, to achieve the changes it wants in Russia.
US Assistant Secretary of State George Kent stated this in an interview with Voice of America, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent , when asked why Ukraine is important to Washington.

“Ukraine is an important country for the region. And this is an important country symbolically. This is the pillar, if you will, of the East Slavic world,” Kent said.
“My former professor Zbigniew Brzezinski once said that if Ukraine succeeds, it will give a real impetus for reform in Russia in the long term. And that is why we treat Ukraine taking into account its merits, and that is why there is such attention to the assistance that Congress provides,” added the State Department representative.
He called the attitude towards Ukraine “the focus of our diplomacy.”
“We understand the great potential of Ukrainians - either in information technology, or in agribusiness, or in the dynamism of civil society. And we want to support this so that Ukraine can achieve its own success. We also understand that if Ukraine succeeds, other countries further to the east will understand that many of Russia's false claims are simply not true,” Kent concluded.
