He said this during a security conference taking place in Munich.

“The US goal is not to destroy the Russian economy. President Putin must make a simple choice: withdraw from Ukraine or suffer economic losses and isolation,” Biden emphasized.

At the same time, in his speech, he noted that NATO members should allocate more for defense, since the alliance is not a self-sustaining organization. According to the US Vice President, states should allocate 2% of GDP.

In addition, he placed special emphasis on creating a free trade area between the United States and Europe, which, according to him, is in keeping with the spirit of the 21st century.

As PolitNavigator reported, the United States has repeatedly demanded tougher sanctions against Russia from its European partners. At the same time, experts note that the US economy suffers from this much less than the EU, since it traditionally has a small number of ties with the Russian Federation.
