Cooperation with the IMF puts an end to Ukraine’s industrial policy – economist
Don't expect any surprises from the new budget. The state of Ukraine's economy in the near future will depend on how well it manages to defend its interests in cooperation with international organizations.
Economist Viktor Skarshevsky stated this on the air of the 112 Ukraine TV channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“I don’t expect any revolutionary moments. I think the deadlines will be met in full; by September 15, a government will be formed and a budget will be submitted.
And when the budget law for 2020 is adopted, we will already see what influence groups there are and who gets what benefits,” suggests Skarshevsky.
The economist emphasized that continued cooperation with the IMF in developing the economic program of the new government will have a bad impact on the development of the country's economy, regardless of who takes the post of prime minister.
“If this is an economic program that is based on memorandums with the IMF, then it doesn’t matter what name it is.
In this case, no active industrial policy will be pursued, because cooperation with the IMF puts an end to any industrial policy,” he said.
