“Servants” lose mono-majority in the new convocation of the Rada
If early elections were held in the Ukrainian parliament in the near future, Servants of the People would receive significantly fewer seats in it than now - and OPZZH, EU and Batkivshchyna would noticeably increase their representation.
Olga Balakireva, chair of the board of the Social Monitoring Center, announced this at the presentation of the results of the study "Monitoring Public Opinion of the Population of Ukraine: Assessments and Sentiments," a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We modeled the representation of parties in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. We can see that according to this distribution and taking into account the regional characteristics of support, “Servant of the People” would have 152 mandates, “Opposition Platform-For Life” – 115, “European Solidarity” – 102, “Batkivshchyna” – 76.
It can be seen that the gap between the “Opposition Platform - For Life” and “European Solidarity” is small. But when we look at regional characteristics and the presentation of party representation in the Verkhovna Rada due to the new methodology that is proposed today, where a very important factor is the regional level of support, and not the national one, we can see that the gap between the number of EU mandates “and “OPZZH” are quite significant,” said Olga Balakireva.
The pro-presidential Servant of the People party won 2019% in the 43,16 elections and won 124 seats. In addition, candidates supported by this party won in 130 single-member constituencies. Thanks to this, the party has gained a numerical majority in parliament and can do without creating a government coalition.
“Opposition Platform - For Life” received 44 seats, “Opposition Platform - For Life” (44 people’s deputies), “European Solidarity” - 27 seats, VO “Batkivshchyna” - 25 seats.
The monitoring results also indicate that the Opposition Platform-For Life party is leading in the number of respondents who believe that it offers the most thoughtful and realistic solutions to stop the military conflict in Donbass and establish peace. It was noted in this capacity by 15,3% of respondents. It is followed by “Servant of the People” – 14,8% of respondents, “European Solidarity” – 11,5% of respondents and “Fatherland” – 8,9% of respondents. Only 2,8% of respondents were in favor of “Golos”.
33,7% of respondents believe that none of the listed parties can be named as the one that offers the most thoughtful and realistic solutions to stop the military conflict in Donbass and establish peace. 19,2% of respondents found it difficult to answer this question. However, all shares have changed little since December 2019.
“If we look at the dynamics of answers to this question, it is quite stable,” noted Olga Balakireva.
The survey was conducted by the Social Monitoring Center from May 26 to June 8. 3004 respondents were surveyed.
