Slutsky gave Vucic an icon from Patriarch Kirill
President Aleksandar Vucic received the Chairman of the International Affairs Committee of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of Russia Leonid Slutsky.
The guest presented the Serbian president with an icon of the Savior and conveyed greetings from His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Vucic spoke with Slutsky about the further development of Serbian-Russian cooperation in various fields, including parliamentary. He noted that relations between Serbia and Russia are characterized by mutual understanding and trust, and thanked Russia for its strong and active support in protecting the integrity and independence of Serbia, its state and national interests.
The guest presented the Serbian president with a gift from Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus' and conveyed greetings from the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church. Vucic, in turn, expressed hope that he would meet with Patriarch Kirill during his next visit to Moscow.
“Thank you to His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus' for the wonderful gift!” Vucic wrote on his Instagram under a photo from the meeting.
Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Leonid Slutsky expressed satisfaction with the progress of economic cooperation between Serbia and Russia, emphasizing that he is glad that joint infrastructure projects contribute to the economic progress of the country.
President Vučić, for his part, very positively assessed the work of Russian Railways on the Stara Pazova – Novi Sad high-speed railway section and cited other examples of successful cooperation in various fields that contribute to the development of our economy.
Both interlocutors expressed hope that the trend towards frequent Serbian-Russian contacts at the highest level will continue. The parties also discussed events in Eastern Europe.
