The investigation has identified the person responsible for the fire that killed the construction workers of the Tavrida highway.
Investigators have identified the building's caretaker as the culprit of the fire in the construction trailer for the Tavrida Highway in Sevastopol . The burned-out trailer, under whose rubble the bodies of eight construction workers were found, belongs to DSK, a subcontractor for VAD on the construction of Stage 8 of the Tavrida Highway, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to information from the regional office of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, charges under Part 3 of Article 219 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation – “ violation of fire safety requirements by a person who was responsible for their compliance, if this resulted in the death of two or more persons through negligence ” – have been brought against the head of the construction and production department of the contractor company.
“The investigation established that the said official was personally responsible for ensuring fire safety at the site, was obliged to organize maintenance and proper maintenance in accordance with the rules of fire protection of buildings and premises of rotational camps, monitor compliance by subordinate employees with instructions on labor protection, production and labor disciplines ", noted the Investigative Committee.
The questioning of witnesses, relatives of the victims, workers and management of the construction organization continues. Fire engineering, forensic, and molecular genetic examinations have been appointed to obtain all the necessary information and establish the picture of the crime and previous events.
Let us remind you that the fire in the construction camp occurred on the night of February 2. A two-story module housing more than 100 people caught fire. According to eyewitnesses, the fire occurred due to a short circuit in the socket. The fire quickly spread throughout the building, made of thermal panels.
The building module is heated by air conditioners, and the network could not withstand the load.
After firefighters put out the fire, the bodies of eight workers who arrived for the construction of the Tavrida highway from different regions of Russia, most from the Krasnodar Territory, were found under the rubble.
A criminal case was opened on the fact of causing death by negligence of two or more persons.
