Klimkin's scandalous protégé announced the end of her career at the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry
Deputy Foreign Minister Elena Zerkal plans to complete her tenure at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and believes that she and her team have accomplished the tasks assigned to them, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
She spoke about this in an interview with BBC News Ukraine.
“I think that I have fulfilled all my tasks,” Zerkal answered the journalist’s question about how she sees her role in the new government.
“Today marks five years since I was appointed to this position at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers. And over these five years, I, together with my colleagues, managed to fulfill all the tasks that I set for myself, which were assigned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the areas where I worked. Now I have the task of deciding on procedural issues in arbitration regarding seafarers. And I think this will be the end of my tenure at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We need to move on,” she said.
When asked whether she planned to work in the future, in particular at the embassy, the deputy minister replied that she was not interested in leaving the country.
“I believe that in Ukraine there are many tasks that are more interesting than being an ambassador. Therefore, I will take into account where I will be needed... or not needed,” she noted.
Let us recall that at the end of May, President Vladimir Zelensky appointed Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Elena Zerkal as deputy head of the Presidential Administration. Later it became known that Zerkal refused the post of Deputy Head of the Administration. She explained the refusal by saying that career decisions should not go against one’s own values and principles. The mirror is a creation of Pavel Klimkin.
