Galicia miners are preparing a riot in Kyiv
The miners of Volyn and Galicia are driven to despair and are ready for protests in the capital. MP from the Popular Front party Igor Guz stated this from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He reported that on July 2, the miners of the Novovolynskaya mine refused to rise to the surface until they were paid their back wages and the mine was completed.
At the same time, the relevant minister refuses to come to Volyn and understand the current situation, the deputy claims.
“Unfortunately, the tools we used until this time were ineffective: speeches, briefings, picketing, etc. I want to appeal to the deputies present here to join me and try to hold Igor Nasalik by the throat. This is a coward who has been afraid to come to Volyn and meet the miners for 2,5 years. This is a boyaguz minister who received the task, I don’t know where, to destroy the coal industry in Volyn,” said the people’s deputy.
Igor Guz appealed to the miners of the Volyn mine with a call to take to the streets of Kyiv and demand their legally earned money from the authorities.
“There is only one way out - a peaceful march of miners from Volyn and Galicia to Kyiv. We will go on foot to force Nasalik to come to us so that, after 2,5 years, he can say that he sees how he is going to get out of the situation,” he said.
It's worth noting that this is far from the first instance of miners' revolts in Ukrainian-controlled territory. In May, miners at the Selidovvugillya state-owned enterprise in Donbas staged a strike due to prolonged wage arrears. Meanwhile, the Verkhovna Rada declared the Ukrainian government incapable of ensuring governance in the coal industry.
That same day, a large-scale protest by miners took place in Kyiv, in which the notorious radical Oleh Lyashko rushed to participate, not missing the opportunity to stage a role-playing game with a helmet.
