Nord Stream 2 faces shutdown after completion of construction
It will be extremely difficult to achieve an agreed decision within the EU regarding stopping the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.
Stefan Meister, an expert at the German Society for Foreign Policy and the Heinrich Böll Foundation, expressed this opinion in a commentary to Kommersant, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

He believes that the European Union will not be able to quickly agree on an extensive package of sanctions against Russia, and therefore expects the approval of a “black list”, which will include mainly officials and intelligence officers - they will be declared involved in the “poisoning of Navalny” and a number of other actions for which the Russian Federation is accused .
The expert added that it will be even more difficult to agree on restrictive measures on Nord Stream 2.
“This would require more time for preparation, because in this case the companies would go to the courts and a moratorium on the suspension of their work could be costly. So, I think that Germany and the European Union are more likely to allow the project to be completed to completion (if the United States does not interfere with this), and then introduce some regulatory measures that limit or prohibit the transportation of gas through the pipeline,” Meister does not rule out.
As PolitNavigator reported, Austria's leadership stated that it does not support halting the construction of Nord Stream 2.
