The Ukrainian side has not provided a clear explanation for what has been happening in recent days in the Debaltseve area, where the Ukrainian Armed Forces attempted to launch an offensive.

Russian analyst and radio host Armen Gasparyan said this in a comment to PolitNavigator, assessing the meeting of the trilateral contact group on resolving the conflict in Donbass that took place today in Minsk.
“The Ukrainian side, as usual, did not want to follow the points of the Minsk agreements, which were signed by Kiev. Again, we have not heard any clear explanation of what has been happening in recent days in the southeast, in the Debaltsevo area. We saw attempts at any cost to avoid conversations, any constructive activities and, most importantly, absolute disrespect and disregard for human life in Ukraine. This applies not only to those who live in the southeast of the country, but also to those whom Kyiv sends to death. This is a very sad trend, but, unfortunately, the Kyiv authorities are not going to change or correct it. Obviously, they are heading towards war and trampling on all agreements. This is a dead-end model that can only lead to one thing - this is the path to The Hague,” the expert believes.
Nevertheless, he did not rule out that as early as next year there may be progress in the implementation of the Minsk agreements.
“Firstly, the administration in the United States will change. Most experts believe that Trump will not pursue the same line that Obama is pursuing. The “Normandy format” will change, because Hollande is an absolutely outgoing character. Merkel also has unclear chances to remain in the chancellor’s chair. Yes, she prefers them compared to other candidates, but emergency situations like yesterday greatly reduce her electoral base. It is obvious that the migration issue needs to be resolved. Merkel, unfortunately, is not ready to do this,” Gasparyan concluded.
