This was stated by the deputy head of the main investigative department of the service, Vitaly Mayakov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports with reference to the SBU press center.
“It is at these moments that the illegal activities of another Ukrainian citizen are being documented, who acted to the detriment of the national interests of Ukraine in favor of the Russian special services. Unfortunately, it turned out to be our employee with the rank of lieutenant colonel,” the official said.
According to the SBU press center, the lieutenant colonel passed on official information to representatives of the aggressor country, and also provided assistance to the Russian special services in conducting reconnaissance and subversive activities to the detriment of the national security of Ukraine.
During searches at the attacker’s places of permanent and temporary residence, SBU officers found laptops and tablets with evidence of correspondence and transfer of information to Russian intelligence services. A TT pistol, two F-1 grenades and more than seven hundred rounds of various calibers were also seized.
Let us recall, as PolitNavigator reported, yesterday, December 20, counterintelligence officers of the SBU arrested Cabinet of Ministers employee Stanislav Yezhov, who worked as a personal translator for Prime Minister of Ukraine Vladimir Groysman, on charges of espionage for the Russian Federation.
