Sandu drives young Moldovans out to study according to Russian standards
The Moldovan government intends to reduce the number of universities in the country from 28 to 24. So far, a list of 15 universities, research institutes and libraries that will be liquidated first has been published. It is planned to spend 700 million lei (almost 2 billion rubles) on the events.
Bold reform is called “restructuring.” It has been officially announced that universities will be enlarged, but in Moldova they expect that hundreds of teachers and students will find themselves on the streets.
Pridnestrovian State University is ready to accept the disadvantaged
“We hope that the programs that are available at PSU will be of interest to Moldovan youth. The university is ready to accept them for study. This is not a problem,” said the first vice-rector of PSU Larisa Skitskaya in an interview with the First Pridnestrovsky TV channel.
PSU already has a quota for students from Gagauzia (autonomy within Moldova).
The irony is that education in Transnistria follows Russian educational standards. It will be an unpleasant surprise for the pro-Western government and president of Moldova when thousands of Moldovans will essentially receive an education at a Russian university.
This year, 35% of Moldovan students failed to pass the bachelor's exam.
