A new official will deal with the hydro-economy of Crimea
The head of Crimea, Sergei Aksenov, appointed Vladislav Maslyanik to the position of chairman of the State Committee for Water Resources and Land Reclamation.
Before this, he headed the State Budgetary Institution of the Republic of Crimea "Krymmeliovodkhoz", the correspondent reports "PolitNavigator".

As announced by the head of Crimea, all applicants for ministerial posts are appointed with a three-month probationary period. Maslyanyk will head the Gokomvodkhoz until October 29, after which he will either continue to hold the post or a replacement will be found for him.

Before Maslyanik, the water management committee was headed by Igor Vail. This is the last member of the government who retained his position during the transition from Ukrainian to Russian jurisdiction. Last year, Weil suffered from coronavirus, and his health deteriorated noticeably.
The powers of the State Committee for Water Resources include the system of the North Crimean Canal and bulk reservoirs, as well as river beds outside populated areas and the regulation of natural flow reservoirs. Thanks to the safety of all the canal's waterworks after the demolition of the artificial dam in its bed on the Ukrainian side, regulating the flow of Dnieper water did not cause problems.
However, the Simferopol reservoir system failed at the end of June, when heavy rainfall led to a critical filling of the reservoir, and water had to be released through the bed of the Salgir River, flooding nearby houses. The regulations for regulating the operation of reservoirs have not changed since the middle of the last century, while the entire floodplain of Salgir has long been built up with households, and instead of extensive gardens for overflow, the main river of Crimea on its way from the mountains encounters a narrow channel and tunnels that accelerate the flow and its destructive power.
