This was reported by the press service of the SBU, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Special service operatives established that police department employees systematically demanded and received bribes from foreign citizens who organized tourist and business tours to Ukraine,” the department said.
It is noted that for a fee, the police did not carry out an in-depth inspection of the belongings of foreigners as prescribed by the instructions and did not formalize any administrative offenses identified.
The SBU documented that during May-August, four managers and employees received bribes totaling 30 thousand hryvnia five times.
“Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine detained two policemen in the terminal of the Kharkov International Airport while receiving another part of the bribe,” the SBU reports.
During searches in the office premises and places of residence of the defendants in the case, law enforcement officers seized almost $130 thousand and 500 thousand hryvnia.
SBU officers detained the police, they were informed of suspicion of committing a crime under Part 3 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Investigations are currently ongoing.
