“Russia will win back five times”: $3 billion to Naftogaz will pour bitter tears into Ukraine – expert
It is pointless to “pressure” Russia with sanctions, and Moscow will take the several billion that Gazprom must pay to Ukraine after concluding a transit contract five more times from Kyiv in other places.
Ukrainian political scientist Andrei Mishin said this on the air of “Ukrlife”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
“The meaning of sanctions is to put pressure on certain individuals, big business, so that it is unprofitable for them and they change political power. But this absolutely does not work in Russia, because there they are proud, like they are decorated, of the fact that sanctions were imposed against them: “this means that we are protecting the state interests of Russia.”
They agreed to sign an energy contract with Ukraine because it was realistic that the Russian assets of Gazprom and its affiliated enterprises in different European countries would be arrested.
As for what Gazprom owed to Ukraine, it is not clear, everyone there owes each other, but this is what it is. That is, that’s when Russia made [concessions], but I think that it will recoup what these several billion dollars will now pay five times in other places,” Skachko said.
