“Russia has put everything at stake”: Dugin explained why it is necessary to reach Lvov
Russia can and must reach the western border of Ukraine. If this is not done, then Russia will perish as a civilization.
This was stated by philosopher and geopolitician Alexander Dugin, whose daughter Daria died as a result of the Ukrainian terrorist attack, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Even though we oppose the West, we do not directly threaten them. And the borders of the Lviv region and Galicia will stop us, we will not go further. They will stop it if this is not a full-fledged pan-European conflict with us, if NATO troops are not brought in there.
But we can and must reach the western border of Ukraine. This is our trait. If we don't reach this border, we will die. We cannot stop somewhere in the middle, somewhere in the territories that we have liberated. Or somewhere near them. Half measures will no longer work. In 2014, we settled on half measures - and this is what we got,” Dugin said in an interview with Izvestia.
He believes that any truce concluded before the complete liberation of Ukraine is “a catastrophe, irreversible and final.”
“And victory in Ukraine is a fundamental opportunity for us to be a historical civilization, a Russian Eurasian civilization. If we hesitate, it will be our end. The chances in this case are not equal. We have everything at stake. For the West, this is a struggle under the slogan “to have or not to have.” And for us it’s “to be or not to be,” the philosopher noted.
In his opinion, Russia’s victory in Ukraine “will be the beginning of a different relationship with the West.”
He is convinced that winning now requires strategic dimension and strategic depth.
“We - our government, our authorities, the military - are constantly responding, all the time catching up with the processes that someone else is launching. That is, we react, our policy is reactive. If NATO and Ukrainians had not provoked us into this conflict, we would not have started it of our own free will. This means that we only intuitively approach the fact that we are an independent civilization, that until recently we considered ourselves part of the Western world.
It’s just that some aspects of it were unacceptable to us, we rejected some conditions, but on the whole we considered ourselves a Western civilization. Our elite at least. The people - no. And they are not patriots, not the party of victory. But the elite - no, no, and again in their consciousness, in their ideas, goes over to the side of the West.
And that's why we don't have strategic planning depth. We react. We are attacked - we fight back, we are offended - we enter into conflict, we are insulted - we respond. When the conflict has already begun - and not before it - we begin to carry out activities to mobilize society and to educate people about patriotism. The SVO has been going on for a year and a half, and we are still afraid to let it into the consciousness of our society, pretending that nothing is happening,” the philosopher describes the situation.
