Russia will not be able to reach an agreement with the United States - it’s time to get rid of illusions
Russia will not be able to come to an agreement with the United States in the Middle East. Leading researcher at the Center for Arab and Islamic Studies at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Boris Dolgov, stated this at a press conference in Moscow.

“A significant part of our leadership still harbors illusions about the possibility of cooperation with the United States, the possibility of agreements and even partnerships. Alas, these are illusions. And it’s time to give them up a long time ago. If this is not done, the Syrian crisis could continue for years to come. The Syrian Republic will not stand this,” Dolgov said.
He believes that Russia should stop reacting to the Russophobic media campaign waged by the United States.
“It's time to stop being surprised. This is a normal information war that will continue. You need to not ooh and ah, but build your own system of responses. There will still be accusations from the West. And part of our leadership hopes in vain that as soon as something is handed over in Syria and Ukraine, we will once again return to friendship with the West. This won’t happen – the train has left,” Dolgov said.
Deputy Director of the Institute of Forecasting and Political Settlement, Alexander Kuznetsov, agrees with him.
“We can’t count on constructiveness from the United States. The most we can count on is not very friendly neutrality,” Kuznetsov said.
