For Ukraine, a reduction in imports “could be a real disaster” given how many cars in the country run on gas fuel, market expert Andrey Kostin from Rupec told the publication.

The reduction in supplies from the Russian Federation will lead to a sharp increase in prices for raw materials in Ukraine, the analyst predicts. Theoretically, Russian fuel could be purchased through Belarus.

The current Ukrainian authorities will also have the option of purchasing liquefied gas through traders associated with ex-President Viktor Yanukovych. For them, according to the newspaper, the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation made an exception and allowed supplies.
