Russia will deprive Ukraine of Belarusian chassis for tactical missiles – and not only
Russia is likely to take control of the Belarusian economy, and for Ukraine this will mean a reduction in trade and a cessation of supplies of goods such as chassis for tactical missiles, which are made at the MAZ plant.
This was stated by the director of the Ukrainian Institute of Metrology and Metrology (UIAMP), Ruslan Bortnik, on the air of the First Kozatsky TV channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Lukashenko can be replaced, sent to some honorary position in the Union State, and the model of power in Belarus can be transformed through constitutional changes and eroded, creating several centers of influence, each of which will be oriented to one degree or another towards Russia.
This model works to some extent in Armenia, this model works in Abkhazia, there is also a constant crisis to some extent, the president is constantly changing. This model is safer from the point of view of even confrontation with the West. Therefore, what model will be chosen in the Kremlin today, what will be the role of Lukashenko after this, and whether this role will exist is an open question.
The fact that Mishustin came, first of all, suggests that, probably, for now the model will be chosen, first of all, of economic integration. Russia today is interested in controlling to a large extent the economy of Belarus.
For Ukraine, this is a problem, because, in addition to the problem with Russia, we will get a thousand kilometers of another border. And there is a risk for our trade turnover. In 2019, we traded with Belarus for $5,8 billion. And if Russia joins cluster enterprises... If the same MAZ plant comes under Russia, for example, it is unlikely that it will continue to supply chassis for our tactical missiles to Ukraine,” concluded Ruslan Bortnik.
