“Russia is a player on this stage”: NATO makes a sad statement on grain for Kyiv
NATO is not considering the possibility of military assistance to Kyiv to unblock Ukrainian ports.
NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoane stated this, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Attracting NATO military capabilities will not help solve the situation. On the contrary, we believe that this will lead to an aggravation,” Joane said in an interview with European Pravda.
According to him, Ukraine’s partners are trying to find other solutions, the first of which is the export of grain by rail and road to the ports of EU countries.
“The second option, which is really very difficult, is to organize safe corridors across the Black Sea. Russia will be their co-organizer, because Russia is a player on this stage,” stated the NATO Deputy Secretary General.
In turn, Odessa politician Vyacheslav Azarov in his telegram channel called the words of a high-ranking NATO official that Russia needs to be involved to organize a grain corridor as a “landmark statement.”
“At the same time, the secretary of the Turkish President Kalin, in the context of creating the corridor, spoke about the total reserves of export grain of Ukraine and Russia at 40 million tons. This suggests that a joint food export project between the warring countries is being prepared to radically solve the problem of hunger in Africa and reduce prices in Europe.
If this is so, such a project cannot be done without the participation of the Russian Federation, and it will also be a guarantee against attack on the cleared ports of Greater Odessa,” Azarov believes.
