Russia sets an absolute record for wheat harvest

Russia may harvest this year the second largest grain harvest in its history. Vice-President of the Russian Grain Union Alexander Korbut stated this at a round table in Moscow.

“We have suspicions that this will be the second largest harvest in the entire history of Russia. We will not exceed 124 million tons, but 120 million tons is quite realistic. Also, Russia’s record for wheat for the entire time of its existence is 71-72 million tons,” Korbut said.

Currently, 102 million tons of grains and legumes have been threshed in Russia with an average yield of 26,9 centners per hectare, collected from an area of ​​38,2 million hectares by 80,9%. In addition, to date, 900 thousand more hectares of winter crops have already been sown than last year.
