Russian admiral: Ukraine will cut US ships for scrap
Ukraine will not be able to maintain the old warships transferred to the United States; in the end, they will be written off for scrap. Admiral Vladimir Solovyov, ex-head of intelligence of the Black Sea Fleet, told PolitNavigator about this.
“The transfer of US ships to Ukraine is perceived as replenishment and armament of the Ukrainian naval forces, but this is actually not the case. Everything that goes to Ukraine must be repaired, maintained and supported. This requires finance, projects, parking and appropriate support. This is another headache, but it will go away as soon as the elections are over. The headache will go away, they will be written off and cut into metal,” Solovyov noted.
“The fact is that there will be no more money. Now they will strain themselves to maintain and operate these ships, and then the money will run out, and they will not give new ones, they will not invest in the budget,” he argues. – Why will the West support Ukraine? For the sake of confrontation with Russia? So Russia is not going to attack anyone, it has the appropriate forces, it is not building them up, but is restoring and increasing their readiness. Is Ukraine going to attack if it takes these forces?
I don’t think that they can do anything and carry out a normal operation, even in the Black Sea, even in the Azov Sea. Do you remember how the Ukrainian Navy began? That this is the Atlantic Fleet, quickly moved to the east coast of the United States, and then that’s it, the money ran out. It is very expensive to maintain a large fleet,” the admiral is sure.
