It’s time for Russia to seize American assets in response to sanctions – Dudchak
The United States has again expanded the list of anti-Russian sanctions. Thus, the country’s Ministry of Finance included several financial institutions, Russian designer Alexander Zakharov, who participated in the development of the Lancet drones, and relatives of the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, Yakub and Salman Zakrievs.
Additionally, Bauman Moscow State Technical University and Deputy Ministers of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Viktor Yevtukhov and Alexey Besprozvannykh were hit by US sanctions, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The latest round of US sanctions will certainly have a significant impact on the companies affected, but it won't fundamentally change the situation in the country, says Alexander Dudchak , a PhD candidate in economics and a member of the "Other Ukraine" movement.
In a comment to PolitNavigator, he emphasized that the best response to the actions of the US administration would be the same strong measures against American companies. In addition, tough preventive work will help so that there is no thought about expanding anti-Russian sanctions.
“Of course, this is unpleasant news for companies and financial institutions; their shares have fallen, the St. Petersburg Exchange was especially affected in this regard, and by the evening the shares had fallen by 13,54%. But, on the other hand, this is a reminder of the world we live in, and that we must act in such a way that it hurts them too.
Firstly, we must make sure that Russian companies do not suffer - as much as we can talk about. The world, of course, is still global, but if such aggressive actions are taken against Russian companies, there is something to compensate for. There are assets of enemy states whose leadership acts in this way - to compensate for losses by selling the confiscated assets of companies representing these countries.
We need to act proactively so that they are afraid, so that even the thought of enuresis appears in them, that “let us apply sanctions against Russian companies and individuals,” Dudchak is sure.
