The military bases in Syria that Russia uses are of great importance for ensuring its operations on the African continent, so it is important to preserve them.
Russian war correspondent Alexander Kots announced this on his video blog, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"Of course, these bases are important, extremely important, because, well, first of all, no one in the Mediterranean will pour us a glass of fresh water now if we leave Tartus. For those who don't know, even before all the events in Syria, in Tartus, even before 2011, our logistics base operated for many years; that's what it was called. That is, we could replenish our water supplies, provisions, and so on through this logistics base. Now, no one in the Mediterranean will give us that if we have to leave ."
"The airfield. All of our African projects, be it Mali, the Central African Republic, or Sudan , are connected through the Khmeimim airfield. Therefore, these aren't just deployment points for our aircraft and ships. No, these are crucial transit points through which our logistics to the African continent passed, and through which we, among other things, broke through the Western-imposed isolation and promoted our new vision of a multipolar world, attempting to engage in dialogue with African countries on an equal footing, rather than as a white man with a black slave, as is common in the West. And now, of course, all of this is under threat," Kots stated.
