“Zelensky still needs to earn a conversation with Putin”
Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev issued a special statement on the occasion of the completion of the presidential elections in Ukraine, in which he called on Volodymyr Zelensky to exercise common sense, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“I have no doubt: the new head of state in relation to Russia will adhere to the rhetoric that he used during the election campaign. Repeat well-known ideological formulas aimed at different groups of the population. I have no illusions about this.

At the same time, there is still a chance to improve interaction with our country. What do you need for this? Honesty. And we also need a pragmatic and responsible approach. An approach that takes into account all the current political realities in Ukraine. Including, first of all, the situation in the east of the country. Therefore, the main thing that should be wished to the new Ukrainian leadership is sanity,” the official website of the Russian government quotes Medvedev.
“Only on such a basis can we revive the dead economic interaction,” the Russian prime minister emphasized.
Dmitry Smirnov, a Russian journalist who is part of Vladimir Putin’s pool, predicts that it is not without reason that it is Medvedev who is commenting on the elections in Ukraine (who previously announced the introduction of economic sanctions against Kyiv):
“The dialogue with Ukraine will go through Medvedev and the economy; Zelensky still needs to earn a conversation with Putin,” Smirnov explained in his Telegram channel.
