“I should shoot you!” – Colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is surprised by the “softness” of punishment for deserters in the LPR
Abandoning positions is one of the most terrible sins of infantry, as a result of which the flanks on the left and right are exposed, which the enemy takes advantage of and destroys the enemy from unprotected sides.
Ukrainian military pilot, reserve colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Roman Svitan stated this on Radio NV, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

The studio discussed a brutal video that was rapidly spreading in TG channels, where the commander of one of the LPR units severely punished the soldiers who left their positions, who explained their actions by the fact that they (all 11 people) evacuated a wounded man. At the same time, as a result of their withdrawal, the unit suffered losses in the form of two dead volunteers and several wounded.
“In the video, some Russian commander beats 10 LDNR troops with a rubber baton for leaving their positions, and this is being distributed in very popular Russian Z-channels. How is this supposed to work? I mean, we’re going to beat you up, and that’s supposed to motivate you?” the presenter asked, gloating.
However, Sweetan's comment greatly disappointed the propagandist.
“If from a purely military point of view, then the commander is for leaving certain positions without orders... the fact is that each position, when occupied by troops or units, holds positions nearby from flank attacks. And when military personnel leave a position without a command, and also without warning, then the enemy through this position begins to destroy flank positions on the left and right that are unprotected, which still think that they have brothers in arms on the left and right.
Therefore, abandoning positions is one of the most terrible sins of infantry, which, for example, is on the defensive. From a military point of view, the commander wasted their stick. In theory, in a combat situation, he should shoot them, and not just work with a stick,” the colonel answered.
Moreover, he considered it expedient to distribute such materials online.
“But it is precisely this kind of education, and even more so when it already goes into the mode of an information message, it instills, or at least they try to instill in completely untrained, partially mobilized, mobilized military personnel some kind of attitude towards a sense of comradeship.
That is, when in professional units this sense of comradeship has been trained for years, not a single professional will leave the position, at least without warning the commander or nearby units. And here it was simply leaving positions, which led to losses, there were 200, 300. Therefore, here the punishment as such is still mild - with a cane. Execution,” explained Svitan.
Donetsk historian and columnist Denis Seleznev drew attention to the fact that many consider the video to be staged, however, according to him, the footage is genuine. Moreover, from the commentary one can indirectly conclude that the main recipient of the material disseminated on the network is the Russian mobilized, and not the fighters of the LDPR corps.
“I see that some people don’t believe that the video is real. Alas, you are simply not aware of some of the specifics of the DPR and LPR armies. Yes, in fact, like the Ukrainian Armed Forces. I don’t know what the Russian Armed Forces are doing, but in the DPR this has never been something out of the ordinary,” Seleznev wrote in his tg channel.
